Effects of Social Emotional Development in Childhood
Social-emotional learning early on in infancy significantly influences a child's adolescence. As early as infancy, a child needs a supportive, nurturing bond. They need to establish relationship attachments and meet all their milestones. A child with solid bonds with adults in the early stages will develop better relationships with peers when they are older (Honig, A. S., & Wittmer, D. S. 2017). An infant or toddler with proper social-emotional skills will develop into a teenager with less anxiety, decreased anger, and more respect towards adults and peers. An infant who can establish appropriate social and emotional skills early can regulate their emotions better as adolescents (Honig, A. S., & Wittmer, D. S. 2017). An infant who meets all their social-emotional milestones on time will thrive in the future.
